Staged in the local building in the midst of remodeling, the audience passed through a series of emblematic "happenings" inspired by the episodes in the novel in various interconecting rooms, with each gradually changing and merging with the others in the course of the performance. The disorientation of the audience in the presence of these unfamiliar scenes and hectoring characters demanding its attention aptly parraleled the encounter of the novel's exiled narrator with his new "home" in Buenos Aires.
